Hudson Street Hooligans

As the world cup rolls on, as America gets ready to play it's final game in this first round, I find myself thinking about the Columbus Crew.  I miss the Crew. I miss the Hudson Street Hooligans and the trailer park shots (well whiskey and RC Cola) that they offer at Ruby Tuesday.

The Crew are a seriously amazing team. Columbus forgets that while the Blue Jackets will never disappoint in their huge failures and I seriously can't remember the name of our arena football team, we have one of the best soccer teams in the nation. We were the 2008 MLS Champs. We won the Supporter's Shield (goes to the team with the best regular season record) for the past 2 regular seasons. But, alas, we do not hold parades for teams that win the MLS cup, so much of Columbus is unaware of the amazing athletes whose stadium they probably drive by on the way to work almost every morning.

And while the Crew has some amazing players from Argentina (Schillitto) and (Padula) and Nigeria (Ekpo)  we also have a really nice showing of Ohioans playing.  Danny O'Rourke was born in Columbus, went to Worthington Kilbourne. Eric Brunner also grew up in Ohio.  He went to Dublin Scioto.

All this really makes me wonder is...How do I not know any of the Crew players?

Ohio Things

Seriously, is there a better shape? The answer is no.

Here are some Ohio products that I love...

I own this one.  Available for purchase from Tiger Tree They also do engraving on the pendant.  I think it's free.  I looked everywhere for the little lady who makes these. I've seen her at craft fairs, but she is no where to be found.
While looking, I did come across some similiar designs. One was an Ohio with a corn stalk etched out. But, it was $100. Tiger Tree- like $40.

This one is from Mustard Seed Boutique in Cinci. As far as I can tell though, there is no online store though.

Finally, Ohio Stationary.

Phantom Limb This girl is a peanut.  All her products are super cute.  And you can buy them in Columbus at Wholly Craft.

Hello, Ohio

While I am far, far away from the best shaped state in the union, I find myself thinking about it all the time.

And it's sort of become my thing, handing out Ohio facts to people. Someone was like, "You love Ohio so much, you should marry it. Or make a blog."

birthplaceofaviation.

I always hated those license plates.

Turns out, the first slogan to appear on a license plate was...

This was around for a few years, disappeared. 1991, This guy shows up...a real classic in my opinion...

Then, there were the few which I have never seen.

Ohio Beef is easy enough.            ACE? Looks awesome.
                                     Stands for
                                                                                Aggressive Criminal
                                     Enforcement.

Which brings us to the newly designed slogan for Ohioans:
                                                   Beautiful Ohio.

Still the birthplace of aviation, at least.
